Chief Goldfarb has served in many capacities during his 25-year career with the New York City Fire Department (and New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation’s Emergency Medical Service\, prior to their 1996 merger)\, retiring as an EMS Deputy Chief/Paramedic.  The author of the New York City Emergency Medical Action (Disaster) Plan\, he served as an EMS commander at the scene during both the 1993 bombing and the 2001 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center.  He is a credentialed FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) Instructor-Trainer (all levels).  Additionally\, he holds Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) exercise development and evaluation certifications. \nSince 1999\, Chief Goldfarb has been a national thought leader in emergency planning\, training\, and exercising for healthcare organizations.  He has developed best practice models for comprehensive all-hazards healthcare emergency management planning\, as well as medical facility evacuation\, response to chemical/biological/radiological/nuclear/explosive incidents\, and pandemic influenza that are in use across the nation in hospitals\, long term care facilities\, public health agencies\, home care agencies\, and primary care facilities. \nRebecca Hansen\, BA\, LMSW\nMs. Hansen brings over 20 years’ experience as an emergency manager and social worker and currently works in Brooklyn where her professional emphasis is the inclusion of disability and access and functional needs\, mental health\, and human services issues into emergency management standards\, planning and practices.  Rebecca has extensive experience working in the government and non-government sectors\, working with smaller municipal government as well as large metropolitan agencies\, with service providers such as nursing homes\, supportive housing organizations\, and with schools.  She has experience working on federally declared disasters in the human services sector including Hurricane Sandy\, Hurricane Katrina\, and the 9/11 Terrorist Attacks in NYC\, as well as smaller more localized events.  She has also co-authored several chapters and articles on disability and access and functional needs in emergency management.  Ms. Hansen received a Bachelor of Arts from the University at Albany where she studied English literature\, a master’s in social work degree from the Hunter College School of Social Work\, and holds a certificate from the Harvard Global Mental Health Trauma and Recovery Program.
